Annual Dry Needling Updates: 2025
This course will serve as the foundation and tracking of our annual dry needling skill assessment that is in alignment with our Policy.
This year, there are 4 areas that you need to pay extra attention to:
- Technique/needle length limitations in the lung field
- Upper Trap DN technique
- Levator Scapula DN technique
Additionally, we will review areas that might have been overlooked. This year’s topic is the application of E-stim.
CEU Requirements:

At the conclusion of the course – once you have completed the course work, passed the skill testing and completed the exit assessment (YES, YOU HAVE TO DO ALL 3) you will receive 2 Category A CEU.
Knowledge Gap:
Dry needling in the lung field comes with an increased level of risk. The emphasis of this course will be on techniques and clinical decisions that mitigate these risks while allowing these structures to be addressed as they are clinically relevant.
Learning Objectives:
- Attendees will be able to execute specific DN techniques to the Upper traps.
- Attendees will be able to execute specific DN techniques to the Levator Scapulae.
- Attendees will be able to identify techniques in the lung field that place the patient at risk for pneumothorax and that violate departmental policy.
Clinical Bottom Line:
Safety measures can and should be employed when dry needling in the lung field – regardless of educational background or personal belief, the techniques presented in this course will allow these at risk structures to be addressed with a minimal level of risk.
